Long stay visa
If you are a national of one of the European Economic Zone (E.E.E.) countries or of the Swiss Confederation, Island, Norway, Liechtenstein, you do not need a visa or a temporary residence permit, whatever the length of your stay. The only document necessary is a valid identity card or passport.
If you come from one of these countries above listed, you have to get a "long stay" visa for periods of study extending beyond 3 months. If you are a resident from a country with a Campus France procedure (Algeria, Argentina, Benin, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, Congo, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Egypt, USA, Gabon, Guiney, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mauritania, Mali, Morocco, Maurice, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Senegal, Syria, Taiwan, Tunisia, Turkey, Vietnam) you must register through the application « Etudes en France »: Consult the guidelines.
If you are not a resident from the countries listed above, you must contact the French Embassy in your country. You can also obtain information through this website: http://www.ofii.fr
Students out from the UE, who are doing a second year of study in France, must ask for a resident permit renewal.
